To ensure that you can import your contacts problem-free, it is important to make sure your file meets our guidelines. You can find them in this article: Import a presslist: Guidelines. Is the file complete and correct? You can start with the actual import.

Click the plus sign in the middle column in the address book, and choose Import Contacts.

Step 1. Uploading a file

Choose the correct file from your laptop or computer. When uploading the data, you can indicate whether or not the file contains a title row in the bottom right corner of the screen. There is a header row if the first row in the file describes the content of the columns (e.g., it says 'First Name'). If the first row contains contact information, then the file does not contain a header row. You can easily test the effect of the option clicking on the check mark in the bottom right corner.

Step 2. Organizing columns

It is important to indicate how the file should be read. You can do this by using the dropdown menu's. For each column, you can indicate what information that column contains. It is important to do this for all columns that you want to import. Do you want to exclude a specific column? If you do not assign a column, it will not be imported.

Step 3. Checking/correcting contact details

Once you have defined all columns, click Map selected columns. You now have the possibility to check the imported contacts one by one and correct any errors. We advise you to review the first couple of contacts, as all contacts will be imported the same way.

If there are any errors in the of the contacts, you can add or change data where necessary. Once you are done checking all the contacts, click Confirm contacts.

Step 4. Duplicate email addresses

The app now asks if 'duplicate' contacts should be avoided in your address book. It could be the case that you want to import an email address that is already in your address book. We recommend to always use this function. This way, you can prevent duplicate contacts in your address book.

Step 5. Confirming the import

Finally, click on Request Import. You will receive an email notification from us once the contacts are ready, which may take a few minutes. After refreshing your browser, you can search for 'Import' in the left column of the address book. You will find a list with the exact date and time of your import. You can rename this list or simply leave it as is (for instance, if you have already added the contacts in the Excel file to lists using the List column).
