Increase your sender reputation by using the handy filters in your address book. The sender reputation gives an indication of whether the press releases you send with Smart.pr are appreciated by its recipients; the journalists and influencers you hope to interest in your news by using our application.

My sender reputation is very low, why is that?

By clicking on the sender reputation at the top right of your screen, a table will open in which you can find more details about the composition of the sender reputation. The table shows the scores for the senders in your account. In order to improve your reputation, it helps to look for exceptions. These can give you an idea of โ€‹โ€‹what you can focus on specifically to improve the overall score. When your general statistics look fine, but at the same time there are a lot of fails and thus a large part of your press releases don't arrive, then these fails are probably the reason for a low reputation. Opt-outs or unsubscribes are an even stronger indicator that something isn't right. If you see a large number of unsubscribes in the statistics, this is probably the reason for the low sender reputation.

A low sender reputation can thus have several causes:

  • Too many recipients unsubscribe from your news.

  • People report your emails as spam.

  • Too many press releases do not arrive in recipients' inboxes.

  • Too few recipients open your emails, click on links or download attachments.

  • A combination of the above.

What can I do to increase my sender reputation?

If you've discovered a lot of fails in the statistics, the solution is in essence simple: your lists are probably outdated and you would do well to clean up your address book. An easy way to do this is by using the filters in your address book. To do this, go to the "contacts" tab and click on the filter icon in the middle column. In the filter menu you will find an option with a slider under the name "failed mailings".

With this slider, you can filter contacts where a large number of the sent mailings have failed. For example, after setting the slider to a range between 70% and 100%, all contacts where more than 70% of all mailings have failed are shown. You can also select a certain time period, for example the last 3 months. You can then check these contacts to either update the email addresses, or remove the contacts from your address book. In this article you will find more information about how to clean up your address book in Smart.pr.

Unsubscribes

When you have a low sender reputation because many recipients have unsubscribed, it is recommended to examine the relation between the content of your mailings and its recipients. You can probably improve your sender reputation significantly by doing more research into the areas of interest of the journalists you send messages to. Targeting smaller groups of recipients can also help to improve your sender reputation.
